Move aside gingerbread house and make way for Vicenza's Christmas crostoli tree. The four-tiered tower is composed of thick cracker-like flakey crisp pastries that are dusted with a layer of icing sugar, and extremely addictive. The Venetian delicacy is not too sweet and brilliant served with hot tea or coffee. While the fried pastry ribbons are available loose in vanilla, raspberry, cinnamon and chocolate, the assembled tree makes for an attractive and entirely edible centerpiece. Trees come in 300g and 1kg sizes.
