Whoring the Holiday Photos

I love this time of year. I do. I love the hell out of it. No, not the commercialism of Xmas, I am as cynical as the next jack-ass about the falseness and commercial driven anxiety that surrounds this time of year. But I enjoy this time of year on principle. In a large percentage of the world (in the northern hemisphere at least) it is really really freakin’ cold. In fact its cold and likely to get colder (a depressing prospect for most). So a few thousands years ago some guys and gals where like "Hey this really really sucks. Lets make it not suck and have a party and have some sex" (or partous – as they where probably speaking Latin). They had it right, so right in fact that very few traditions are more celebrated in more ways by more people.
So lets make it not suck. If you have a speacial someone, sex them up good, if not spead some love, spread some hugs, spread general feelings of mirth and joy.
Oh and unless you found something totally rad and meaningful, make your presents. You may end up feeling cheep (lacking cash), but you wont feel cheep (caving the the commercial pressures of Xmas).
With love.
Proto model at strategic juncture
Just prior to the half-way point in my tenure, I realized that the Advisory Team had to make a strategic call going forward – whether to continue with the existing program engagement model, shift radically to a highly orchestrated model, or create a hybrid. They chose well – I ran with a hi-tech, high touch model based on the hybrid concept first delineated on this flip chart page.
This text picture evolved into what I called the Touch Matrix, presented to the Advisory Team, to help them visualize the benefits of all systems as well as their drawbacks.
For Phase 0, the Advisors bet on a hybrid model focused on service, with the Program Coordinator facilitating the protege-mentor match. Phase 1 will ramp up the volunteer management slice, as the program design is such that scaling up should go smoothly. They bet wisely, and it’s paid off in spades!
