what is your christmas like with your kids?

Question by Nikki: what is your christmas like with your kids?
what kind of traditions do u have?
when do u have dinner?
do u visit family or do they come to visit?

I am just curious, I don’t have to worry so much this year cause I am living with the inlaws till our house is ready but next year I am just woundering. I wanna have fun family traditions that my kids will remember. When I was younger we would always eat supper xmas eve, watch the grinch and play board games or make puzzles till we got tired. In the morning we would open presents no earlier then 7am then have eggs benadict with cheese sauce and relax the rest of the day while some family would stop over. And santa would always leave our stockings at the top of the stairs so we had something to keep us busy till 7. We always baked cookies for santa, made xmas crafts and put a carrot out for the riendeer to share.

I wanna make xmas fun for my son, using some of my traditions and some of my own. The last 2 yrs we have gone to my parents for xmas eve supper and then we have had our own xmas morning then off to my hubby parents for the rest of xmas day. I hate the idea of taking him out of the house, I would much rather enjoy the christmas in our jammies.

So, sorry for rambling but what is your christmas like with ur childer?

As a child I always stayed the night at my memere’s (grandmother) house during Thanksgiving break. On the day after Thanksgiving my memere and I always decorated her house for Christmas. Ever since I was three I put up the creche and helped wrap the lamp post outside with evergreen tree boughs, lights, and a ribbon. I also put up the window clings every year too.

At my other memere’s house, she has a snowman collection, so I used to help her set up those too after Thanksgiving was over.

Since my aunt moved away to New Hampshire, every Christmas the family travels three hours to New Hampshire and spends the day opening gifts and eating finger rolls and fruit/ veggie platters all day.
