If it was YOUR idea to get her one , and you promised her something, why would you end up blowing her off and not even getting her anything for xmas? Do you secretly hate her …I mean to get her hopes up for nothing?

Unless the guy is a jerk he probably had financial troubles of some sort.. not giving somebody a present doesn’t mean hate.. So if before you thought of him as a nice guy then I would really blame financial issues although he could’ve still got you something “symbolic” if he promised it to you.. So yeah if it’s none of that then he’s just a jerk no hate involved here.
